Aim and objectives

This project aim at producing a prototype course for biomathematics, borrowing from what already exist the good points, and incorporating new insights; biomathematics is an ever-increasing research area. The course will be designed and developed in contact with the potential public, using the feedback to change the course content; likely by internet and then by classroom-like courses. We intend to "crash" (summarize, systematize) in a single course the commonplace, cornerstones, from several areas of biomathematics, e.g. systems biology, mathematical biology, bioengineering, in a single picture. We shall make use of already-existing literatures, in order to render it easier for participates to go on, which is the target of the course, give an initial-easy impulse to several groups interested in biomathematics. We shall produce videos initially, make them available by internet, and see the response. Should you get interested, do not hesitate to give feedback at any stage.

European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology Poster Section

The methodology of design and development of new products has been around for a while and applied to the industry for decades with pretty good results. The results were so positive that nowadays one can find quite a few courses, books, papers and alike. On the other hand, the university seems not being able to cope with the digital generation efficiently. E-learning is the promise, but several problems that did not exist in a handful number of students in a classroom do exist. Similarly, a new product will have to achieve a public not always totally known a priori, in some case, when the product is launched, more than eighty percent of the budget has already been spent. On this poster we are going to discuss an ongoing project whose aim is designing and developing a course for biomathematics for a general audience. Our upcoming goal is a prototype that can be implemented online, e.g. webinar or broadcast, or in the traditional way, e.g. classroom. We are going to present what we have done so far, what we intend to do in the upcoming future and what we expect from such a project after (partial) completion.
